Walking the City with Theatre Eyes

Establishing theatre from the familiar city

Led by the playwright Naoyuki Miura, whose forte is creating stories out of locations and memories, this theatre workshop is open to anyone. Participants research the Otsuka area, where the festival’s opening production takes place, and then work together to create a story.

Naoyuki Miura

Playwright, Director

Naoyuki Miura is a playwright, director, and head of the company lolo. His work re-examines the relationships within families and between lovers, creating strange and original versions of the classic boy-meets-girl story. Pop culture references from both East and West fill his work, helping to attract a wide range of fans across different ages and genders. He is also active as a TV drama scriptwriter, music video director, and workshop instructor. Since 2015, his output has included high school theatre. He was shortlisted for the 60th Kishida Kunio Drama Award.
