L PACK.
Saduck & Kimbley

Written, Directed and Performed by L PACK.
Based on the rakugo play “Cha no Yu”

A unique tea ceremony gathering that brings together and savors the tastes of difference
L PACK. (Susumu Odagiri and Tetsuya Nakajima) freely borrows ideas and approaches from art, design, architecture, and folk art. Having presented its highly original “coffee scenery” events all over Japan, it here organizes its first ever tea ceremony gathering. This is the second in the group’s adaptations of the rakugo tale “Cha no Yu,” about the know-it-all Inkyo and the monk Sadakichi who hold an inept tea ceremony gathering. The venue is the elegantly designed Sekicho-an inside Mejiro Garden in Toshima. Various rich “differences” obtained through a process of workshops and research into local tea ceremony practitioners and rakugo storytelling are served to audiences in a tranquil environment surrounded by nature.

L PACK. is an art group comprising Susumu Odagiri and Tetsuya Nakajima, who were both born in 1984 and graduated from the Department of Space and Architecture at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture. It aims to form one part of the elements in an area, inspired by the idea of connecting people through “coffee scenery” events that resourcefully combine the most minimal tools and local materials. L PACK. has participated in art projects, residency programs, and exhibitions all over Japan.
